🧭 The Path
Stream-Entry

In brief
Stream-Entry is the first of the four stages of awakening, the moment a person directly glimpses the truth of the Buddha's teaching for the first time and "enters the stream" that flows toward full liberation. It permanently dissolves the first three fetters — the illusion of a fixed self, doubt about the path, and clinging to rules and rituals as ends in themselves — so a stream-enterer can never again fall away from the path and is assured of awakening within at most seven more lives. Think of it as crossing a threshold you can't un-cross: like finally seeing clearly after years of squinting, your basic orientation toward life quietly and irreversibly shifts.
