Nibbāna

nibbānaNiết-bàn
In brief

Nibbāna is the goal of the Buddhist path: the complete cooling and ceasing of greed, hatred, and confusion, and with them the end of suffering and the cycle of rebirth. It isn't a heavenly place you go to, but a profound freedom and peace available to the awakened mind here and now. Think of the quiet relief when a fever finally breaks, or a fire goes out for lack of fuel — Nibbāna points to that kind of unburdening, made complete and unshakable.
