Suffering

dukkhaKhổ
In brief

Suffering (dukkha) is the deep sense of unease, dissatisfaction, and stress woven through ordinary life — not only obvious pain like grief or illness, but also the subtle ache of things never quite staying the way we want. The Buddha placed it at the heart of his teaching because seeing it clearly is the first step toward freedom from it. You can feel it in small moments: the restlessness after getting what you wanted, or the quiet worry that good things won't last.
