Wisdom

paññāTuệ
In brief

Wisdom (paññā) is the clear, direct seeing of how things really are — especially that everything we cling to is impermanent, unsatisfying when grasped, and not a fixed self. It matters because this kind of understanding, not just belief or willpower, is what gently loosens craving and brings lasting peace; it grows through reflection and meditation, not memorizing facts. A small touchstone: the calm clarity you feel when a strong emotion finally passes and you see plainly, "that feeling came and went, and it wasn't really me" — that flash of honest seeing is wisdom beginning to ripen.
