🧭 The Path
Faith / Confidence
saddhāTín
In brief
Saddhā is the warm, open-hearted trust that draws us toward the path — a confidence in the Buddha, his teaching, and the community of practitioners that makes us willing to try the practice for ourselves. In early Buddhism it isn't blind belief but a verifiable trust: you begin with enough confidence to take a step, then test the teaching in your own experience, the way you might trust a doctor enough to follow the treatment and watch for results. It steadies and inspires us, especially in the beginning when wisdom is still small, and grows naturally as practice bears fruit.
