🌌 Cosmos & Rebirth

Deity

devaChư thiên
In brief

A deva, or deity, is a being reborn into one of the heavenly realms, enjoying long life, beauty, and happiness as the fruit of past good karma. In early Buddhism they are not creator gods or beings to be worshipped — they are simply travelers in the round of rebirth, still bound by impermanence, who will eventually die and be reborn elsewhere when their merit runs out. Think of them as living in a state of great but temporary good fortune, like someone enjoying a long, sunlit vacation that must one day end — which is why even the gods can benefit from the Buddha's teaching.
